STIBSA Students Hold Educational and Vocational Tour to PT Victoria Care Indonesia, Learning About Manufacturing Business Processes
Semarang, Thursday, February 20, 2025 – A total of 120 students from the Management and Retail Management Study Programs at the College of Business and Administration (STIBSA), accompanied by 35 lecturers and staff, conducted a study tour to PT Victoria Care Indonesia in Semarang. This activity aimed to provide students with in-depth insight into how a manufacturing company manages its entire business value chain, from strategic planning to daily operations. From a financial perspective, students were introduced to production budget management and cost efficiency to ensure company profitability. From a marketing perspective, they learned how branding and distribution strategies are implemented to reach a wide range of consumers in both domestic and international markets, particularly in the context of increasingly digital retail management. Furthermore, the human resources aspect was highlighted, where students learned how workforce management and work culture are implemented to increase productivity. From an operational perspective, they understood the critical role of the supply chain, quality management, and sustainability in creating high-quality products that remain competitive in the market.
This visit was part of the Edu-Vocation Tour, an educational program that included various engaging and informative activities. Participants participated in activities such as sharing discussions, a mini museum, the Oemah Herborist theater, ice-breaking sessions, product knowledge sessions, shopping at outlets, and souvenir product offerings. They also had the opportunity to visit the mini museum, a factory tour, a beauty theater, and the Oemah Herborist outlet.
The visit began with a factory visit, where participants were given the opportunity to observe firsthand the production process at PT Victoria Care Indonesia, a company known for producing various body care and beauty products. Students were invited to observe firsthand every stage of the production chain, from raw material processing and product formulation to packaging and distribution.
Furthermore, participants were also provided with an understanding of industrial waste management, a crucial part of sustainable business processes. PT Victoria Care Indonesia emphasized its commitment to environmentally friendly production practices, enabling students to understand how modern industry manages its environmental impact through technological innovation and sustainability policies.
During the discussion and presentation sessions, the company's management team explained the various business strategies implemented by PT Victoria Care Indonesia to address market competition. The students gained in-depth insight into marketing strategies, particularly in retail management, a key focus in addressing changing consumer trends.
One particularly captivating moment was the presentation on product distribution and sales strategies, which explored how companies manage supply chains to maintain competitiveness in the market. Students were also encouraged to understand human resource management in the industrial world, particularly in maintaining workforce productivity and operational efficiency.
The chair of the visiting committee, Dr. Endang Hariningsih, S.E., M.Sc., stated that the visit provided significant added value for students in understanding the theories they had learned in class. "We hope this hands-on experience will broaden students' horizons about how business theory is applied in the real world. By observing the production process and company business strategies firsthand, they will be better prepared to face the challenges of the workplace," she said.
Andi Rezki, one of the students participating in the study excursion, also expressed his positive impressions. "I was very enthusiastic about participating in this visit because I was able to see how a product is made from scratch until it is ready for market. Furthermore, we also learned how companies face challenges in marketing and retail management amidst intense competition," he said.
In addition to leaving a positive impression, Andi Rezki also posed engaging questions to the company, such as how PT Victoria Care Indonesia adapts its pricing and promotional strategies to address changing consumer behavior in the digital age and how they manage inventory to avoid overstocking or product shortages in the market. This further broadened the participants' understanding of the challenges of modern industry.
Lecturer Ms. Mukti Murtini, S.Sn., M.M., also addressed questions about PT Victoria Care Indonesia's strategies for addressing challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic and how they are maintaining customer loyalty during these difficult times.
This Edu-Vocational Tour is expected to enrich students' understanding of the dynamics of the business world and provide a tangible contribution to STIBSA's development of a more applicable curriculum. This activity can also serve as a reference for institutions in designing industry-based learning programs, strengthening collaboration with the business world, and building professional networks for students. Through this hands-on experience, students not only understand business theory but also gain practical insights that can be applied to various future business scenarios. Furthermore, visits like this support STIBSA's vision of producing competitive graduates who are ready to adapt to the challenges of a constantly evolving industry.
